About Lakeshore east

The area now known as Lakeshore East was originally a port for exporting goods
across the United States and was later turned into a 9-hole urban golf course! After
Lakeshore Drive was rerouted to run farther North along the Lakefront, the Lakeshore
East neighborhood was created from the newly developed area. Lakeshore East offers
its residents a unique central location while remaining a quiet escape from the bustling
downtown.

Nestled at the center of the neighborhood is Lakeshore East Park, a 4.6-acre
greenspace dedicated to its residents. The park features a playground, walking paths,
and a dog friendly area. The neighborhood is just North of Maggie Daley Park, an
outdoor oasis and the newest addition to the Chicago Park District, featuring seasonal
activities and a stunning garden retreat. The neighborhood also has direct access to the
Lakefront trail and the Riverwalk
One of the newest additions to the neighborhood is the Chicago Architecture Center, which offers guests the opportunity to explore the city through tours, exhibits, and events. The CAC aims to “inspire people to discover why design matters.” Considering
the neighborhood is home to some of Chicago’s tallest and most architecturally praised buildings, the CAC is a great addition for residents and tourists alike.
